a minstrel's taleHistory is at the heart of what Roger Pugh does, in more ways than none.

Firstly he has a long history of performing over several decades. In festivals, theatrical productions, private and corporate functions. He features at outdoor events, medieval banquets, weddings, pubs and hotels. And he’s been doing it across the UK and at times overseas.

Many of his characters are based in history too. Sylvesta the Jester is a medieval jester with authentic music, comedy and entertainment. His Wandering Minstrel is faithful to Tudor and Reformation times. The Artful Roger represents Victorian and Edwardian periods.

But he also provides music from 50s and 60s as a pub entertainer for all occasions. His own compositions are rooted in tradition but matched with a modern folk rock style.

Whatever your requirement Roger will guarantee a successful event. Use the Bookings tab at the top of the page to check on availability and cost.

This is an intriguing old programme I just found in Roger’s archive. It’s for the 1995 Blackpool Jubilee Festival and features Roger as Sylvesta the Jester. Bolingey September Fayre 1997

We’ve been getting some great responses from these old event programmes. I was recently at Bromyard Folk Festival and programme we posted of the very first event in 1992 was gratefully received by Pat Costello who had every programme but that one. They also show how much experience Roger has at this Jestering lark and […]

Bromsgrove Folk Festival 1992

One of my favourite folk festivals has long been Bromsgrove Folk Festival. I lived in Bromsgrove from 1978 to 2004 and so went along to the various clubs in the town even running a folk club briefly at the Grasshopper (now less interestingly the Hanbury Turn) with Bob Bignell. Going through some old publicity material […]
